To animate a profile picture, upload a clear photo of yourself above, choose Animate photo (or Smile), set the shape to 1:1 and press Make my video. About a minute later you download a 5-second square MP4 where you blink, smile and nod while your face stays the same. Your first video is free, with no account and no watermark.

How to animate a profile picture

  1. Pick a sharp, front-facing photo of yourself where your face fills a good part of the frame — a selfie is ideal.
  2. Choose Animate photo for a blink and nod, or Smile for a natural smile; set the shape to 1:1.
  3. Tick the box confirming you have the right to use the photo (it is you, or you have the person's permission), then press Make my video.
  4. Download the MP4 in about a minute. Where a site only takes GIF, convert the MP4 in any free converter.

What the result looks like

The motion is small and natural: a blink, a soft smile, a slight head turn or nod. Your face, hair and background stay recognisably the same — it is meant to look like you moved, not like a cartoon of you.

  • A short looping clip for a channel, website or bio link.
  • A "my photo came alive" post for social feeds.
  • A warm intro for a video call profile or a newsletter header.
  • A gift: animate a family member's profile photo (with their permission).

MoveFrame outputs MP4. Some apps only accept a still image or a GIF as an avatar — check the app's rules, and convert the MP4 to GIF if needed.

Which photo works best

  • One person, facing the camera, eyes open, good light.
  • A sharp image: very small or blurry photos give soft results.
  • No sunglasses or hands over the face.
  • Adults only: photos where the person is a child are rejected.

What MoveFrame will not make

Every photo is checked before anything is generated. If a check fails, nothing is charged.

  • No nudity or sexual content, and no "uncensored" mode.
  • No videos of children from uploaded photos. The baby template invents a fictional baby; it never animates a real child's photo.
  • No celebrities, politicians or other public figures, and no face swap.
  • Hug and baby templates ask you to confirm that both adults in the photos agree.
  • Your daily free video has no watermark, and every video is labelled as AI-generated in its file data.
  • See something wrong? Every video page has a Report link. We take reported videos down and answer within 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Will it still look like me?

Yes. The prompt keeps your face, hair and background and only adds a blink, a smile and a small head movement. If a result looks off, make it again — a failed or blocked video is refunded automatically.

Can I use it as an animated avatar on any site?

MoveFrame gives you an MP4. Sites that accept video or GIF avatars can use it (convert to GIF if needed); sites that only take still images cannot. Check each site's rules first.

Can I animate someone else's profile photo?

Only with their permission, and only adults. We do not allow celebrities or public figures, or face swaps.

Is it really free?

Your first video is free, with no account and no card: Standard quality, 5 seconds, no watermark. After that, free daily credits (5 a day where available) depend on your region and how busy we are. To keep going, Pro is $9.90/month for 120 credits (about 24 videos), or a credit pack starts at $9.90 with no subscription.

How long does it take?

Most 5-second videos are ready in 40–90 seconds. 10-second and Max quality videos can take up to 3 minutes. You can keep using the page while it works.

What happens to my photos?

Photos are stored privately, used only to make your video, and deleted after 24 hours. Videos are kept for 30 days so you can download them, then deleted. They are private unless you share the link or enter the daily challenge. We never use your photos to train AI models.
